Speed Your Development

Visual Studio Magazine reviews Codify for their July issue:

"Codify reflects thoughtful design and can generate a variety of template types. Once you've written your templates, you'll find them simple to use. Codify is a good, affordable choice if you're prepared to do the type of work that developing good templates requires."

Remoting Configuration Template

We have released an update to Codify 1.3. It is a minor update with a few bug fixes and a new template. The new template, Remoting Configuration File, eases creation of .NET Remoting configuration files. Using this template you can quickly create error-free configuration files without knowing the XML schema used. This will allow you to focus on the details of your application and not the details of the XML.

This update is free for all existing Codify users. Click here to download the updated version of Codify. For more information, please view the Release Notes.

Codify 1.3 Now Available!

Codify 1.3 includes several new features:

  • CodeBuilders are now supported for C++ projects. Both .h and .cpp files can now host CodeBuilders.
  • Codify includes FileBuilders in addition to CodeBuilders. FileBuilders can be used to automate the generation of any single text file, regardless of its language. CodeBuilders are embedded within a source code file and are, therefore, limited to C#, VB .NET and C++ projects.
  • The Codify template editor has been upgraded to be a standalone application. Previously, the template editor could only be launched from within Visual Studio.
  • The Add CodeBuilder dialog box will now show custom template locations in addition to the installed templates. This allows, for example, a team to place their Codify templates on a network share and have them be automatically available for use within Codify.

There have been many other minor upgrades and some bug fixes. Read the Codify 1.3 Release Notes.

Codify in Software Development Magazine

Codify appeared in the August issue of Software Development Magazine's New & Noteworthy column. Here's a snippet:

"Workstate's Codify tool is a Microsoft Visual Studio add-in that actually tops the wizard idea: It provides a toolbox for constructing your own C# or VB .NET code-generation templates. It's not simply a matter of saving code snippets for later insertion (I wouldn't waste your time with that!). Rather, Workstate has invented a XML dialect to specify templates that serve as input to a code generator, along with GUIs to create, edit and instantiate them. "
